The Rythmiser
Wednesday, 22 August 2007

Welcome to one of the most innovative training products brought to you by HSPSE.

Advanced shaft technology is at the heart of 'The Rhythmiser' putter that has been developed to create a putting stroke self teaching unit. The rhythmiser employs a highly flexible shaft that reflects the idiosyncrasies of your putting stroke. Indeed only a pure pendulum putting action keeps the putter head in line with the grip. It also:

Within 10 minutes of using 'The Rhythmiser' it can highlight and help eradicate some of the most common putting faults.

HOW DOES IT IMPROVE MY STROKE IN MY PUTTING GAME?

When putting with the Rhythmiser to enable yourself to make contact with the ball correctly it is imperative that you keep the shaft as straight and as constant as possible, only allowing the slightest bend in the shaft on the change of direction between the back swing and the through swing. Attempting to do so will encourage some of the key fundamentals of the putting stroke.

Indeed the Rythmiser shaft will snag and flex and the inaccuracy of the stroke will be exaggerated if you:

  • Start the stroke with you hand and not your shoulders
  • If your putter touches the ground on the takeaway
  • If you take the putter away too quickly
  • If your backswing is too short the violent change of direction on the down swing needed to create the necessary clubhead speed would cause the shaft to snag
  • If you wrists break down during the through stroke you will also see the shaft bend and the clubface open or close.
  • As the rhythmiser sweet spot is so slim any putt hit outside the line of the sweetspot will cause the blade to twist making you realise its importance

As you practice with the Rhythmiser you will notice how quickly you will eradicate all of your old faults. Your stroke will subconsciously seek to adapt the necessary mechanics needed to put successfully with the rhythmsier in your hands.

Enganging in the process of making 10 putts with the rhythmiser and then 10 with your own putter, will enable you to sense what sound mechanics and a smooth acceleration feel like.

The Rhythmiser is a popular training aid that us used by some of the leading tournament professionals around the world including Padraig Harrington.

After Practicing with the rhythmiser you will not believe how exceptional your stroke feels with
your normal putter. Through the rhythmiser you will discover

  • A Perfect rhythm
  • A Pendulum putting motion
  • A Consistent Putting Strike

So if you want to lower your scores order your own personal coach now. It will guarantee you success!

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL INSIGHT: ENHANCING YOUR FEEDBACK
By HSPSE Director of Instruction Phil Kenyon

The role of feedback in the development of motor skills is the one that has received a great deal of attention from sport psychologists in all sports. Indeed research has shown that feedback is an essential ingrediant in the learning process. Feedback can come from two sources, knowledge of results (KR) and knowledge of performance (KP) . Probably the most obvious source of KR, is whether the ball goes in our not, which often provides a useful source of feedback. However when learning a skill it often not the result that you are looking for at first, it is the performance of the skill.

Results typically come later.

The difficulty though is that many of you don't have your coaches around all the time to give an extrinsic source of feedback like the pros do, guiding you through the performance of your mechanics. However with a training device like the rhythmiser you will have your own unique source of feedback. Sound mechanics will provide a straight shaft and a well struck putt while poor mechanics will provide a visibly snagged shaft and a wayward putt. Constructive practice with the rhythmsiser will provide you with constructive feedback, enhancing your skill learning and improving your putting. The rythmiser is your own personal coach.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my day at HSPSE. I now have a sound knowledge of my putting stroke. Up to now I have had little confidence in my my putting and did not enjoy practising. Since the day at HSPSE I feel self assured over any putt. Many thanks for a great day."
