The final leg of HSPSE’s ASIA Trip was Macau. Macau consists of 3 tiny islands that lies off the cost
of Hong Kong. For many years Macau was governed by the Portuguese until 1999 when it was handed back to the Chinese.
However it still maintains many Portuguese influences, much like Hong Kong still
has its British influences and tradition. With the help of David Largent, Yes! Distributor for Asia, the HSPSE team made their way from China via Hong Kong to Macau to meet up with the head pro at Macau Simon Grunwell who is a great supporter of Yes Golf in the region. See pictures further down for more details. Click the right side of the picture to advance, the left for going back and the center for blowing it up to a bigger size. The group of golfers in our last private clinic was organised by Simon and consisted of Macau Golf Club members as well as the founding member of the Macau Professional Golfers Association, the canadian Tour Pro Larry Petryk. As usual with all HSPSE clinics, it started with an in-depth analysis of each student. Video capture was taken of the students Ball Roll, their technique and SAM Putt Lab which measures 28 different parameters of the club head as it moves during the putting stroke. After going through the analysing process, the golfers were then educated in the 4 Fundamentals which are the corner stone of the Harold Swash teaching philosophy. Understanding these fundamentals is the key to understanding the rational for any change the player may be asked to do. The players were then shown their video footage and data to understand the aspects they needed to improve. After which they then started to work on their proposed technical changes. During the 3 hour sessions, the golfer received an assessment card with details of the changes they have been asked to work on. After the work, the team had the opportunity to play the stunning course. As a side note probably the most spectacular hole on the layout was the Par 3 17th, where the Pros Tee is tucked up away high in the rocks. A great finish to a rewarding day.
