Congratulations to Padraig Harrington who succesffuly defended his
Open Title at Royal Birkdale.
A stunning ealge 3 at 17th hole sealed a remarkable final round performace which saw him become the first european to win back to back majors since 1906. Padraig was seen on BBC TV's Look North West Tonight programme on the Tuesday prior to beginning his defence talking about the influence putting coach Harold Swash has had on his a career. However it wasnt just his putting that pulled him through the tough conditions at Birkdale, his ball striking on the final day was of the highest order by Padriags own admission. Henrik Stenson who also spent some time with putting coach's Harold Swash and Phil Kenyon during practicet finished tied 3rd after a final round 71. Another notable performance came from Challenage tour player David Horsey. David who works with Phil Kenyon finished tied 67th in his first Major appearance. He had hoped for a higher positioning when he lay in the top 10 after round 2, but a poor 3rd round saw him slip back down the field.
