Becoming a Level 2 Accredited Instructor
of the Swash Putting Schools really gives a Golf Teaching Professional
an edge over normal putting instruction.
The basis of the Level 2 programme is the European Tour Experience of Director of Instruction Phil Kenyon and Harold Swash.
Their work on the European PGA Tour on a regular basis with players like Henrik Stenson, Darren Clarke, Martin Kaymer, Oliver Wilson, Oliver Fisher and countless other players, offers a indepth level of knowledge to every Golf Teaching Professional. Having the opportuntiy to be a Tour Coach is one thing, but what all Golf Teaching Professionals can do, is try to become the best coach they can be a by assembling all possible knowledge to provide a better service to club golfers. A Golf Teaching Professional shall never cease to learn. Phil Kenyon wrote the Level 2 programme keeping in mind what putting instruction on a high level consists of.
The programme focus irnot a
method that is taught, but rather utilising a framework of knoweldge
gained at level one to understand 'causes and effect'. As a Putting
Tour Coach he basically collects all necessary data through use of Dual
Video Capture, Sam Puttlab and Ball Roll analysis. Additionally to
this, open questioning of the player gives a coach a better
understanding on how to time the lesson and how to set priorities to
plan in short, middle and long term.
Every Golf Teaching Professional is aware of the fact that teachers need to structure their lessons and only give a pupil what he needs to know. Piece by piece. The Level 2 course for Golf Teaching Professionals does exactly that. Understanding the effect and more importantly finding and eliminating the “cause”. Honoring a players strength and improving his weaknesses.
Level 2 bases on analyzing an
enormous amount of information gained by systems like the Sam Puttlab,
Dual Video capture and ball roll analyzes. Absorbing all the
information and finding the connections between faults, movements and
compensations. An enormous task for every golf Pro, is to manage this
information in order to conduct the session without getting into a time
problem and also to give the student clarity and direction.
From a greater understanding you are able to create the most simplistic solution.
We congratulate Shay Smart, Director
of Golf at the Palm Island Golf Resort, Guangdong, China, in becoming
the first Asian Level 2 Accredited Instructor.
Our General Manager David Largent from Hong Kong was also part of the course. Gaining a stronger knowledge on how instruction a top level is being conducted and can now give interested Golf Teaching Professionals in Asia a perfect picture on what benefits a Golf Instructor has when starting the three tiered Harold Swash Accredited Instructor Programme.
