Harold Swash Putting welcomed 3 more teaching pros through to ‘Level Two’ of the Accredited Instructor Programme recently when Jonas Wulker (Sweden), Peter Thelin (Sweden) and Rob Mouwen (Holland) visited Southport on the 18th and 19th February 2008 to undertake the 2 day course.
The Teaching Pros, who had already been operating as ‘Level One Instructors’ over the past year, were keen to further develop their coaching skills under Harold Swash Putting’s guidance. The course, which was delivered by Director of Instruction Phillip Kenyon, built upon ‘Level One’ of the programme and gave the attendees a greater insight into the Harold Swash Putting Philosophy. Day one was entitled ‘Putting Coaching: Understanding Cause and Effect’ and combined theory based and practically based sessions, including working through documented case studies. The aim of the day was to give attendees a greater understanding of the common faults and fixes, an insight into working with elite players and a vision of how to integrate technology into their coaching to be more efficient in their analysis. Day two saw each attendee assessed delivering a ‘one on one’ lesson with a student. The coach was critiqued on their coaching structure, application of theory, as well as communication, interpersonal and time management skills. To maintain level 2 status each coach will need to maintain standards that will be assessed through the provision of case studies throughout the year. The three coaches join Christian Schonfeldt (Denmark), Bart Van Der Wind (Holland), Bart Bollen (Belgium), Glenn Billington (Spain), Jesper Sorenson (Denmark), Michel Monnard (Spain) and Allan Renz (USA) as Level 2 Instructors. The success of the programme is increasingly evident when you consider that by the end of 2009, in only its 3rd year of existence, the programme will see over 32 Accredited Instructors in over 17 different countries worldwide.
