The Annual Review of Golf Coaching see's it launch at the end of 2007 with help from HSPSE Director of Instruction Phillip Kenyon. Most Tour players now have a number of different coaches to help them with the mental, physical and technical sides of the game. Today, therefore, it is more relevant to talk of 'Golf Coaching' rather than simply 'Golf Instruction' or 'Golf Teaching'. Such a shift has been reflected in the publication of the ‘Annual Review of Golf Coaching’. The publication is a technical and peer-reviewed publication that is aimed is to bridge the gap between scientific and practical knowledge in golf. The articles in the 2007 Annual Review can be placed into five categories: Swing Technique and Biomechanics; Technology & Feedback; Psychology of Performance and Practice; Golf Development and Coach Education; Strength and Conditioning. The best of recent research is brought to the lay reader along with expert contributions from leading figures in the coaching world. The book will be required reading for coaches who themselves wish to take advantage of the latest developments, and will appeal to all serious amateurs who want to be aware of what is happening at the cutting edge of their sport. All academic departments of sports science and physical education will find this book a very worthwhile addition to their library. Among the contributors are Dr Bob Rotella, who consults to players on PGA Tours on the mental side of the game; and Dr Gary Wiren, the only active member of both the PGA to have been inducted into the PGA Hall of Fame and the Golf Magazine World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame. HSPSE’S Director of Instruction Phillip Kenyon, who holds a place on the Editorial Board, contributes to inaugural edition by providing a commentary on Dr. Christian Marquardt’s paper on the SAM Puttlab and the findings from data gathered on the European Tour.
