from Phil Kenyon, Director of Instruction HSPSE --

I was back out on the European Tour this week for the Andalucian Open in Seville. A great golf course and facilities that was host to the Spanish Open last year.

Unfortunately on the Tuesday it rained most of the day so the putting green was pretty quite. However it was still a busy day catching up with some of the guys and showing them the new product Yes! have ready.

In particular the new Yes! Golf Models Dawn, Lizzie 3 and Tracy III got a great response from the guys. The Dawn is a classic blade design forged from 303 stainless steel while both Lizzie (mallet) and Tracy III feature an interchangeable hosel system giving the golfer a choice of 3 different toe down balances.

I also had with me the new SWS shaft that allows interchangeable weights to be positioned into the shaft. The weighting system can help stabilise the putting stroke and alter the player’s movement dynamics. Barry Lane took a SWS Tracy III and Emmanuelel Canonica took a SWS Lizzie.

Gonzalez Fernandez Castaño took a Dawn although he will be using an Abbie this week which we had altered the lie angle on to suit some new changes to his putting style.

Alexandro Tadini also will be using the Donna. He wanted it to sit open so I took the shaft of and twisted it round before re shafting and then bending back to the desired loft and lie.

David Drysdale also picked up the new Abbie, which has a little less offset than the old Abbie.

I also met up with David Horsey and Oliver Fisher, on the Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, who as well as using Yes! putters are both students of mine and regular visitors to our putting studio in Southport. David has made a good start to his rookie season, finishing second in Malaysia recently. While Oliver has good memories of this event from last year when he narrowly missed out on a victory when he got beat in play off by Thomas Levet. Let’s hope one of them can a place better this week.

Next week the European Tour moves onto Lisbon and Portuguese Open, however this year I won’t be attending that event as I will be in Houston for the Shell Houston Open on the PGA Tour. I look forward to bringing you a report then.

Young Tiger Woods-like boy to set junior record with 20 consecutive putts on the rail designed from Harold Swash.

The golf club was too long for him, he was using a 32" Yes! Carolyne. As the Custom Fitting Program from the Harold Swash Putting School of Excellence is quite unique, we sorted him with a special solution.

"Since the session Kieran would state that his putting now has sense of purpose over every putt which has filled him with confidence and ultimately lower scores. In my opinion from the perspective of a parent of a son who wishes to be a professional I think this should be a must have lesson from the time the player shows any potential."
