Harold Swash Coaching Principles

As well as drawing upon experiences from a lifetime in golf a major influence in Harold's coaching is his experience as a production engineer. Indeed it was through the application of physical laws and principles that Harold first theorised on what the required mechanics of putting should be.

Harold's coaching is therefore based upon scientific principles that will enable the pupil to develop a putting stroke that is less reliant on hand eye co-ordination and feel and one that is repeatable and reliable under pressure.

Harold has 4 fundamentals that represent the corner stone of his teaching.

  • Fundamental No1
The blade of the putter needs to be square to the target at both the address and strike position.
  • Fundamental No2
The blade of the putter needs to be square to the path through the hitting area.
  • Fundamental No3
The putter blade needs to have a slight up stroke through the hitting area.
  • Fundamental No4
The putter blade needs to have a smooth acceleration through the hitting area.

True Roll - The Guiding Principle

The guiding principle that governs Harold's coaching and blends together his four fundamentals is the need to develop a true roll on the ball. The quicker a ball starts to roll after impact the better chance it has of staying on its intended line with its intended pace.

It is the underlying principle that directs Harold's coaching.

Harold and his Accredited Instructors views on the mechanics of the stroke such as the stance, posture, stroke plane and the grip just to name just a few are all geared to helping you achieve this basic principle.

Young Tiger Woods-like boy to set junior record with 20 consecutive putts on the rail designed from Harold Swash.

The golf club was too long for him, he was using a 32" Yes! Carolyne. As the Custom Fitting Program from the Harold Swash Putting School of Excellence is quite unique, we sorted him with a special solution.

I can recommend every Golf Teaching Professional to visit Harold and Phil and become an Accredited Instructor as well. It will improve their teaching skills on Putting.
